11 Things I Love About Sweden
1. The Beautiful Archipelago
Did you know Sweden has tens of thousands of beautiful islands in its country, the Archipelago? Some of my best childhood memories are from those small islands around the west coast. It’s a unique environment and people come from all over the world to discover the beauty of the unique archipelago. It’s a must to experience at some point in life. Those islands give me peace and joy in my soul.
2. Sweden’s “Midnight Sun”
During the summer, the sun never sets in Sweden. Known as the “Midnight Sun”, it can be 10pm at night, and the sun still shines in Sweden. If you travel even farther north, the sun does not set at all and it’s bright all night long. It’s a magical experience for anyone, even for me who has experienced this phenomenon all my life.

Clean, sophisticated, cozy, and classic—these are the words I would use to describe Classic Swedish interior design. This fresh design style makes any living space feel like heaven – I love it!
4. Swedish Fashion
The clean, sophisticated style isn’t only found in interiors. Classic Swedish style in fashion can be found in popular brands like H&M and Gina Tricot. I always find what I’m looking for in these stores.
5. Women’s Rights
In Sweden, gender equality is very strong and respected. Women’s rights are greatly reflected in home and family laws, and so that’s why the Swedish government has paid close attention to ensuring the support of women in home and family life. One unique law in particular gives not only the mother maternity leave but also paternity leave for the father. This way, both partners can be at home to care for one another.

Believe it or not, elementary schools and high schools have free food and meals for students in Sweden. For some people, this sounds too good to be true.

It’s easy to find good and diverse restaurants and coffee bars in Sweden. Overall, the standard of the food is very good and usually affordable. You can find all kinds of food in Sweden – Thai, Indian, Japanese, and much more. I love trying out new restaurants, especially in Gothenburg.
8. Public Transport
Sweden’s public transport is one of the most excellent systems in Europe. It’s reliable, provides good coverage, is very affordable, and is widely accessible. Many Swedes don’t need a car for these reasons and rely solely on public transportation.
9. Nature and Resorts
There are many unique hotels, spa facilities, hiking trails, and ski resorts situated in beautiful Swedish landscapes, especially in the wintertime with all snow! Nature is very loved and maintained here.
10. Clean Water to Drink Everywhere
Clean water is, unfortunately, not accessible to every person in the world. In Sweden, we have access to clean water and can drink from our taps anytime, without any concern for the integrity and safety of our water.
